Paleo / Primal / Bacon / CleanEats Lifestyle
With the official start of summer right around the corner, cookouts, boat rides, and other events take up a lot of the weekend. It can be tough to be Paleo during some of these days with friends and family chomping down on burgers, hotdogs, chips, cookies and throwing back beers and pounding sodas. You have options. For example today I went to a friends cookout and enjoyed a salad and a burger with no bun from the grill and washed it down with a nice tequila drink. Yesterday was a boat trip to Block Island. Instead of drinking beers all day I brought a bottle of vodka and some club soda with me. Granted it is tough to mix up a nice cocktail while riding some waves, but it can be done. I also recommend a plastic liquor bottle for boating, glass and waves don’t mix. For snacks I went with a variety of different fruits and some almonds. Lunch was a salad with mixed greens and lobster meat with strawberries and cantaloupe. It sounded like a weird mix at the time but it was delicious.
What I wanted to covey is that there are usually options that are Paleo friendly. It may take a little work to get used to eating Paleo at events but it can be done. Another great idea is to eat a meal before you go and just snack a little at the party. So while you are soaking up the summer sun skip the bun, have some greens, bring some fruit, eat some veggies and have some fun.
