Pulled Pork

Pulled pork is one of the easiest meals to make in a crockpot.  Just season it with whatever spices you would like and set it on low in the morning and it will be done in time for dinner.  When I first started making pulled pork I would always use a pork-loin, but I have been converted to pork-shoulder.  The pork-shoulder is so much fattier and it is a lot more juicy than the pork-loin because of the delicious fat cooking down over the meat all day long!


  1. 4-6 lb bone-in pork shoulder
  2. seasonings of your choice – I used Chinese five-spice, salt and pepper
  3. thats it!


  1. rub the pork liberally with your spice mixture, preferably overnight in the fridge
  2. place in crockpot, fat side up
  3. cook low and slow all day long
  4. when ready the bone can be removed from the meat with no effort
  5. drain liquid from crockpot
  6. shred with two forks  or tongs
  7. place back in crockpot and douse with your favorite BBQ sauce recipe(I used this Paleo friendly version from Zenbelly)
  8. Enjoy!

I placed my BBQ pulled pork over a bed of cooked spaghetti squash.
