Drunken Shrimp

Happy Friday everyone, I hope your week went well and I hope you get to do some relaxing this upcoming weekend!  Why not start things off with some “Drunken Shrimp”? It is really Tequila-lime shrimp but “Drunken” sounds a lot more fun.  Lets hope it isn’t blackout shrimp.  This is a really simple and easy marinade for the shrimp and it imparts tons of flavor.


  • 1 pound of large shrimp
  • 1 Lime – juiced and zested
  • 2 Tbsp of blanco tequila or silver
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tspn cayenne pepper
  • 3 Tbsp chopped cilantro


  1. combine all ingredients and let marinate for 1-4 hours
  2. To cook shrimp ; grill or cook in skillet( I cooked in skillet)
  3. I served with a side cauliflower rice with cilantro and lime juice which is easy to make:
    1. rice cauliflower
    2. cook down in coconut oil about 5-7 mins.
    3. add 1/4 cup cilantro and juice of 1 lime
    4. cook for 1 minute more
  4. My cousins girlfriend made the tortillas which are a riff on Against All Grains
  5. topped off with bacon, pineapple guacamole (found here)



* Remember, do not eat and drive 🙂
