What Would John Mack Eat?

Paleo / Primal / Bacon / CleanEats Lifestyle

About Me / Contact Me

My name is John Mack and I am addicted to  Oreos, Doritos, Beer, Taco-Bell, Wendys, etc…

That was the old me. I have been overweight for my entire 30 years here on earth.  I started my Paleo journey on January 1, 2012.  It was with a recommendation from my friend Ryan that I read “The Primal Blueprint” by Mark Sisson. He sent me a very kind worded email telling me to read the book and how it has helped him live a healthier life.  I was working on the tugboat and decided what better time to start than at work, where I am free of temptations like booze and late night pizza-binges.  I fired up my trusty Kindle and downloaded “The Primal Blueprint” and read the entire book within two days.  I could not put it down.  After I was finished reading it, I downloaded every Paleo book available for the Kindle.  That was 18 months ago and about 130LBS heavier.

I am creating this blog to help inspire, motivate, and teach people how to live a healthier lifestyle based on Paleo principles.

Hi. I’m impressed by your blog – your food is delicious and you look great. I was thinking of starting a blog since I lost 20 pounds (doesn’t sound impressive), but dropped 50+ cholesterol points eating healthier, exercising and yes, avoiding lots of wheat/grains. They do indeed cause food cravings and actually raise cholesterol. Like you I am addicted to coconut butter. My husband thinks I am from a past life living in the Caribbean on a coconut island. Anyway, I’ve read a lot about Paleo – it seems obvious there is a lot of meat and fat in that diet. Has your cholesterol spiked, lowered or remained the same. I’d be very curious. Good luck and thanks for those great tips!

Very inspiring. I am a 43 year old male and I am also 6′ 1″ and 365 pounds. I started putting on weight in my mid-twenties. I was always thin and active up until that time. I just became inactive and ate all of the wrong things. I am going to get the book you referred to and make the choice to change myself and my habits. After all of these years, I think it’s time. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good work.

My wife made the bacon cocoa bananas for me tonight – awesome! It goes into our permanent repertoire. We made the bacon wrapped asparagus the other day, even better!

Dude, are you the cook on that boat or did you just pick these skills up on your own? I’m sure glad you made it onto Mark’s Daily Apple, this is great, thanks.

Hey John, I sent you an email a few days ago and wanted to see if you got it? I would really like to pick your brain and see what you are doing that I missed. I have had some success but nothing like yours.
